Confronting Death

A poetic documentary exploring what people think about death, and how they feel about it. Filmed during the March 2020 lockdown, accompandied by interviews conducted in the months following.

Directed and Produced by Holly Lawrenson Evans

Length: 20 minutes

I wrote the bulk of the music for Confronting Death on the remote, largely uninhabited island of Kato Koufonissi, the smaller of two islands that is part of the Small Cyclades Group in the Aegean Sea. I was the guest of my then-partner’s grandparents, who over the years built a charming house near the Northen Tip of the rocky island. When I listen to the music I wrote during this time, I am reminded of the deep blue colors of the sea, the taste of salt on my skin, and the smell of tomatoes vine.

Later, I mixed everything in one of the basement studios at the Reid School Music. This room, the so-called Russolo Room.

Unfortunatelly, the film has not been released to the public. When and if it is released I will update this stop accordingly.
